Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation Review

Hey Beauties,

So i recently but a photo of this foundation on my instagram and asked who would like to see a review and i was inundated with 'yes'. So here it is. I have combination oily skin that leans towards the oily side especially in summer, I'm like a constant grease ball no matter what. So when i was in Sydney i wandered into Sephora in desperate need (not really) for a foundation, especially a higher end foundation as i don't particularly have higher end foundations. I got a sample of this foundation and the Kat Von D Lock-It foundation but of course they were sold out in my shade, so i purchased the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation.

First of all this is a mousse type foundation, one that I've never owned before and i was so fascinated by its consistency. Its like I've whipped up egg whites and they're super fluffy. Anyway so i was drawn into it by the texture and it claiming to be full coverage which it is not. I used a beauty blender to apply this and it was in no way full coverage as i expected it to be, it was kind of medium coverage but its definitely build able. It doesn't set super quickly so its quite easy to work with and its very light on the face.

I carried on with the rest of my face routine which includes setting my foundation with powder as i am super oily. I got about my day and i looked into the mirror at about 3-4pm and wow the foundation had parted on my face and gone all patchy and i was a shiny disco ball. Needless to say i was disappointed, i feel like Tarte lied to me hahah.

I was expecting the longevity of Estee Lauder Double Wear and i got the longevity of Loreal True Match (doesn't last long on me). I feel like this foundation will be perfect in winter as my face is less oily and i think i will get a longer wear out of it but for summer its a no go right now especially with how hot it has been. I will continue to try it with different primers and applications etc but until now its a no go if you have super oily skin. I think this would suit either normal to combo skin or possibly even dry skin as its so light i don't think it will cling to dry patches.

So those are my thoughts on Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation. Have you tried it before? what are your thoughts? Leave some comments below.

Until next time,

Love Always,

Sydney Haul & thoughts of Sephora

Hey Beauties,

Beginning of January i went to sydney for two weeks and of course Sydney has the first Australian Sephora. I'm not going to lie i went there about 7 times in the two weeks there. I didn't buy much makeup from Sephora because most of it was out of stock which sucked majorly because i feel like they should of been getting refills every week and have constant stock levels up which they didn't at all. The prices were average, they claimed to have US prices but i knew that would never happen because of taxes, import costs, shipping etc. Prices were kind of on par with Mecca, Myer etc so it was nothing major. It was also ridiculously busy all the time and hard to get anywhere around the store which i knew it would be like that. Im hoping next time i go back to Sydney they have better stock levels and the hype has calmed down. So enough of sephora, below are what i purchased with swatches swell, i hope you enjoy this post.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in 'Medium Custard', Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour foundation  in 'Ivory'

MAC Mineralize skinfinish in 'Perfect Topping'

Swatch of Perfect Topping

OCC Test Tube Lip Tars, Stained Glosses in 'Rhythm Box' and 'Mein Herr'.
Matte Colours in 'Narcissus' and 'Roller Girl'

Swatches of Lip Tars

So although i didnt buy much I'm happy with what i got as i have wanted to try everything for awhile.

Until next time,

love always,

Best of Beauty 2014

Hello Beauties,

I am back and ready to blog! My break was amazing as was my holiday and Sephora hehe. Okay enough of me, as the title suggests this post is about my favourite products from 2014. I have picked one from each kind of 'category' and ill explain a little about why i love it. I hope you enjoy this post.

Primer: Revlon Perfecting Primer
This was a sly one that kind of crept into my every day routine. I grabbed this primer on a whim and probably the best drugstore purchased primer! As you know i have combination/oily skin and this makes my skin feel and look super flawless whilst keeping the oil at bay and helping prolong my makeup. PRICE

Foundation: Revlon Color Stay
WOW i love this foundation. These are for the combination/oily skin and it works wonders! I have these in the shades, 150 Buff and 220 Natural Beige for when I'm tan. These are supposedly a cheaper dupe for Estee Lauder Double Wear and they totally are although these are only slightly cheaper at 34.95 AUD but generally Chemist Warehouse have 50% off Revlon cosmetics so i grab them then!.

Concealer: Mac Pro Longwear Concealer
Ahhh the infamous pro long wear concealer, every beauty blogger and youtuber raves about this and its totally understandable why. Its extremely full coverage and long wearing which i need cause i have some horrible dark circles. This still creases on me but every concealer creases on me but I've found myself reaching for this every day.

Powder: Australis Fresh and Flawless
This is one of my ride or die powders, it literally leaves you so flawless its beyond a joke and its so cheap at about 12AUD from Priceline, you literally can't go wrong. I have all three shades in Natural, Deep Natural and Darkest Brown. The shade range is tiny and i feel like they need to make more shades as this powder is simply amazing.

Setting Powder: BareMinerals Well-Rested
I use this as an under eye setting powder and its amazing. It a yellow slightly shimmery powder that does wonders for my under eyes preventing them from creasing majorly while also counteracting my dark circles. Its super cheap for 24AUD available from Kit Cosmetics or Mecca. I can see me repurchasing this forever and ever.

Blush: Hourglass Ambient Blush Palette
Holy hell i don't know where to start with this, its soooo amazing. Its ridiculously pigmented and so beautiful i am so in love with this palette. Mood Exposure is my favourite blush out of this palette. I can see this lasting forever and I'm definitely wanting other HourGlass blushes.

Highlighter: Stila Kitten Duo
Although this isn't the notorious kitten colour these are variations of it and they're amazing highlighters. I use the light pink as an inner corner highlight and when I'm wearing a light pink blush. The champagne colour blends perfectly when wearing a rose gold coloured blush and its simply perfection. I have found myself grabbing this mainly for the light pink colour as its the perfect eye highlight

Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
I have raved about this product so much so i won't rave too much more. Its amazing and summer proof and leave me with brows to kill. I have used this every day since i got it and its totally my holy grail brow product.

Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked2 Basics
I have literally used this palette nearly every day since i got it. I absolutely love the original Naked2 palette although it has too many shimmery colours for every day wear so of course when this was released i jumped on the matte colours. I use this for day looks as well as night looks and everything in-between.

Eyeliner: Bourjous Waterproof Clubbing eyeliner and Nyx Wonder Pencil
I couldn't choose just one eyeliner. I use the Nyx wonder pencil daily to line my waterline and make me appear more awake and i use the Bourjous eyeliner when i go out clubbing or am feeling a dramatic eyeliner day as its super creamy and blend able and literally does not budge.

Mascara: Toofaced Better than Sex
This mascara has changed my life. It is so ridiculously good its without doubt a close second to my holy grail mascara. It lengths and adds volume to my lashes and i use this nearly every day although apparently there is a world wide shortage of this mascara so i haven't been using it as much as i don't want to run out and not be able to repurchase it!

So those are my absolute favourites from 2014 and i hope you enjoyed this post.

Love always,
